All tourists, 1000 vehicles trapped in Naran, Kaghan rescued: PDMA
APPPESHAWAR - All the tourists and more than 1000 vehicles, who were trapped due to heavy snowfall in scenic Kaghan and Naran valleys in Manshera districts were rescued by the police and district administration.
“All the tourists and more than 1000 vehicles have been rescued and evacuated from Naran-Kaghan valleys by the proactive efforts of district administration and prompt response of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA),” the PDMA spokesman told APP on Wednesday.
The tourists are safe and fuel besides cooked food was provided to them, the spokesman added. It may be recalled that on Sunday last about 2000 tourists along with their families were trapped in Naran and Kaghan valleys due to heavy snowfall and stoppage of roads due to land sliding and fall of avalanches in the area. All the government departments were mobilised by the federal and provincial governments for the safe rescue of the tourists.
