ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the world over observed Black Day, Tuesday, to convey to the world that India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is totally illegal, unjust and contrary to the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
The day was marked with complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir, call for which was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders. Special arrangements were made to observe this day with full intensity at national level. In this regard, protest rallies were carried out throughout Pakistan including Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Hundreds of Kashmiris gathered outside the Indian High Commission to protest against the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
The Kashmiris have also announced to hold massive protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the United Kingdom.
Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah said the aim of observing the Black Day is to apprise the world community of the atrocities and repression being carried out by the Indian forces on Kashmiri people in Occupied Kashmir. In an interview, he said Kashmir has never been part of India and India illegally occupied the area. He said the world should take notice that Kashmiris do not want to become part of India. Shabbir Shah said India cannot suppress the voice of Kashmiri through repressive measures.
The Hurriyat leader strongly appealed the United Nations to pay attention toward the plight of Kashmiris and play its role for holding plebiscite in Kashmir at the earliest. He said human rights organisations and the OIC should also play their role for the resolution of this long-standing dispute.
