Troops called for maintenance of law and order only, for LG polls: ISPR
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army troops have been called in by Civil Administration for maintenance of law and order only for the upcoming Local Government elections in sensitive districts of Sindh and Punjab, said an ISPR statement on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, troops will assist law enforcement agencies when and where required.
“However conduct of elections will remain the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).”
