World nations to gather for climate talks next month
Climate conference to take place from Nov 30 to Dec 11

ISLAMABAD - The world nations would gather in Paris next month to discuss future actions for coping with impacts of climate change.
It would be the 21st session of Conference of the Parties (COP21) and the eleventh session of the COP serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) will take place from November 30 to December 11.
The deadline for the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) submission to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat was October 30 and around 146 countries across the world have submitted their INDCs to the UNFCCC's Secretariat as yet.
It is an important time when the 21st edition of the Conference of Parties (COP21) is scheduled to take place in Paris. The climate conference is going to be one of the largest ever events on climate, gathering all member states of the UN, along with major organisations concerned devising new, solutions-oriented strategies to combat the changing climate.
The conference is significant for Pakistan, as the country is one of the most vulnerable nations to climate change and witnessed some deadliest impacts of climate change in the form of floods, cloud bursts, droughts, cyclones, sea intrusion and heat waves, in recent years.
Pakistan is grappling with a number of environmental issues like floods, GLOFs, tropical cyclones, heat waves, shifting rainfall, river flow patterns, declining groundwater levels, droughts, expanding desertification, aridity and rise in sea level. The COP21 climate forum named, "Pakistan say Paris", a precursor to the actual event in December, was a clarion call for the government to submit well defined Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).
The conference has emphasised proper preparation to effectively highlight Pakistan's condition as a climate affected country and seek funds from the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The government and the Ministry of Climate Change is preparing well for the COP to emphatically plead its case as being one of the most threatened nation from the climatic changes.
