Army chief witnesses Pakistan, Saudi Arabia joint military drill

RAWALPINDI - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said that any threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia will evoke a strong response from Pakistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Friday.

He made these remarks during his visit to the National Counterterrorism Centre, Pabbi near Jhelum where he witnessed the culmination of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia joint military exercise, Al-Shihab.

The army chief said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed strong brotherly relations as they had a long history of deep-rooted cooperation. He said the exercise signified the joint effort of the two nations against terrorism.

According to the ISPR statement, Al-Shihab focused on counterterrorism training of the special operation forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which included cordon and search operations, airdropping and heli-lifting.
