Army continues relief operations in quake-hit areas
INPRAWALPINDI - Pakistan Army’s relief operation in quake-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan is underway in the aftermath of 8.1-magnitude earthquake, which killed more than 269 people across the country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), army teams are engaged in relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims in Bajaur, Chitral, Shangla, Kabal, Mingora and Lower Dir. It said that army aviation helicopters had made 27 flights into the affected areas during the past 24 hours.
The statement said that 49 relief camps and distribution points had been established in the quake-ripped areas through which 30-tonne ration; 4,000 camps; 3,000 blankets; seven-tonne medicines and 48 packets of ready-to-eat meals were distributed.
The military media wing said that at least 1,200 people had been provided with medical aid during the past 36 hours, whereas overall 2,345 individuals had been treated in the army’s medical camps. Furthermore, 49 filtration plants have also been installed for the provision of clean water to the quake-affected people.
