Amid tight security, Pakistan religiously observes Ninth of Muharram
Lahore - Ninth of Muharram processions are being religiously observed across Pakistan as a day to remember the sacrifices made by the martyrs of Karbala.
Internet and mobile services are temporarily suspended in many parts of the country as one of the many security measures that are being implemented by the government and law enforcement agencies to avoid any potential mishap on the 9th of Muharram and Ashura.
The main procession on Saturday in Karachi will be taken out from Nishtar Park, while in Lahore they will initiate from Pando street.
Between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, metro bus station will be suspended today and on the 10th of Muharram. A three-day ban on pillion-riding is also being observed in Peshawar and Quetta city.
Youm-e-Ashur,10th of Muharram is to be observed with great reverence on Sunday, 1st of October, 2017.
