IHC seeks govt’s response on Sharif’s plea against separate indictments

LAHORE: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sent notices to the federal government seeking a response on ousted premier Nawaz Sharif’s plea against a trial court’s order of framing separate indictments in three corruption references against the Sharif family.

Earlier today, Sharif’s representative Zafir Khan filed three petitions in IHC against the October 19 order of the accountability court of framing separate indictments.

A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the petitions.

The petition sought IHC’s directions for the trial court to frame a joint charge and to combine the three references into one.

It also requested the IHC to suspend the proceedings of the accountability court till the framing of the joint charge.

IHC, however, sent notices to take the federal government’s response on Sharif’s plea.

The hearing was adjourned until November 2.
