Sattar says MQM-P has ‘no space for militancy and terrorism’ in their party

KARACHI – Farooq Sattar, chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan said on Saturday that his party has no space for militancy and terrorism and is the cleanest Mohajir party.

Addressing a press conference, Sattar said that action against Hammad Siddiqui, prime accused in Baldia factory fire case, should be taken as per law if he faces allegations. Siddiqui, former in-charge of MQM-Karachi Tanzeemi Committee, was arrested on Friday in Dubai.

Hammad Siddiqui, the prime suspect in the Baldia factory fire case arrested in Dubai, Sattar repeated that MQM-P has never disputed that an accused belonging to his party should not be charged if he faces accusations. But there are a lot of MQM-P workers unlawfully in jails, most of whom have “surely been booked on bogus charges,” he said.

Responding to a question, Sattar said that he has no relations or association with the MQM founder and “those who should know, know that I am not in contact with the founder”.

The MQM-P chief restated his claims of party workers being forced to changed loyalties, saying he will take this matter to the federal government and the prime minister.

Salman Mujahid Baloch, a former MQM member had said on October 23 that several party leaders including Farooq Sattar have been in touch with the MQM founder and the series of accusations between the two sides is just a show-off. Sattar rejected the accusations as “baseless and inaccurate.”
