Another October earthquake jolts country
LAHORE: An earthquake reportedly of 5.3 intensity hit parts of the country late night on Saturday, making it yet another earthquake to have fallen in the month of October.
According to reports, the epicenter of the quake was Hindu Kush in Afghanistan and the intensity on Richter scale was 5.3. The cities where the quake was felt the most are Hafizabad, upper Dir and surrounding areas while the effects were reported in the Islamabad, Lahore and Kasur as well. No loss of life or property is reported yet.
Last year, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan on October 1 and a year before that in 2015, the ‘biggest ever’ earthquake of 8.1 magnitude jolted the country on October 26.
The “October earthquake” quickly became part of discussion on the social media because it is the month when the deadliest earthquake in the country’s history happened on October 8, 2005, leaving over a hundred thousand dead and thousands displaced.
