‘Particular lobby’ promoting unconstitutional acts ‘to get their jobs back’ says
ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that there is a particular lobby which is hell bound on promoting a narrative to provoke unconstitutional acts in the country “so that they get their jobs back”, he said on Saturday.
Speaking to journalists, Iqbal said that there is a “troika of displeased politicians, retired generals, and TV talk show hosts” who are busy commenting about political and economic stability in the country on the media.
We’re all in same boat; have to work together: Ahsan Iqbal
Iqbal in a reply to a journalist said that he would like to reiterate that there is no conflict between institutions, adding that elections will be held on time in 2018.
Iqbal further asserted that the debt to GDP ratio was balanced in the country.
Loans had been taken for production and not for pleasure, he added.
The interior minister referring a World Bank report said that the country’s economy has hit a 10-year high.
We have revived an honour for a five-year-term in the country, Iqbal said, adding the democracy is stable and the next general elections would be held as per schedule.
Earlier on October 23, the interior minister had said that the government has ‘no conflict with any institutions.’
“They [armed forces] are our front line, and we have the absolute respect for all of the institutions that are protecting our nation,” he said.
