River Indus continues to flow in very high flood
ISLAMABAD : River Indus continues to flow in Very High Flood Level with falling trend at Kotri Barrage with water outflow of 708,000 cusecs while it is in low flood with falling trend in Guddu-Sukkur Reach with 322,000 and 334,000 cusecs.
River Indus at rest of the locations and all other main Rivers including Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing Normal, said a daily report of Federal Flood Commission (FFC) issued here.
However, River Kabul is experiencing low flood with rising trend at Nowshera with 46,000 cusecs.
River Indus is flowing in Very High Flood Stage at Kotri Barrage. The “Very High Flood to High Flood Situation” at Kotri Barrage is expected to continue during the next 6-7 days which can result the inundation and riverine flooding in low lying areas of Districts Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and adjoining areas along both sides of Indus River upstream and downstream of Kotri Barrage, especially Shahdadkot, Thatta, Sajawal, Mirpur Bathoro, Mirpur Sakro, Jhang Shahi, Allah Rakhio, Jamshoro, Matiari, Makaro, Ketibander, Shahbander etc.
Tarbela Dam has attained its Maximum Conservation Level of 1550.00 feet, whereas Mangla Dam is at an elevation of 1206.00 feet i.e. 4.00 feet below its Maximum Conservation Level of 1210.00 feet.
The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Mangla & Chashma is 11.753 MAF as compared to last year’s 11.622 MAF. app
