Mirwaiz, pro-liberation parties flay Gilani’s arrest


ISLAMABAD : The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and many other liberation leaders and parties have condemned the arrest of veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani.

APHC Chairman while describing Gilani’s arrest as unwarranted said detainees are usually released on the occasion of Id, but Hurriyet leaders here are not spared even on this auspicious day, Kashmir Media Service reported.

“The arrest reflects the authorities frustration and desperation, and deserves to be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” Mirwaiz said.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir accused the government of India of playing with the ailing leader’s life, adding that the authorities would be entirely responsible if he came to harm in custody.

The Jamaat-e-Islami of Indian Held Kashmir, Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Democratic Freedom Party, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Democratic Political Movement, Mass Movement, JKLF-R, Convener of APHC AJK Chapter, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar in their separate statements while condemning the arrest of Syed Gilani, said that it was a brazen violation of all democratic norms and civilized laws and the leaders have been arrested to suppress the ongoing movement. app
