Police to ensure security arrangements on Eid: IGP
* Dogar directs officials people should not be stopped without reason at checkposts
LAHORE: Punjab Police Inspector General Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the officers and Jawans of Lahore police to ensure coordinated and comprehensive security arrangements on the occasion of Eidul Fitr and utilise best professional skills and full commitment for dealing with the recent wave of terrorism effectively.
He was addressing a special meeting of DSPs and SHOs of Lahore in the District Police Lines. Lahore CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen, DIG Operations Rao Sardar Ali, SSP (investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed, CTO Cap Syed Ahmad Mobeen and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
The IGP stressed on the police personnel that they should march forward with courage and boldness in the war against terrorists and criminals by upholding the moral values of decency and justice instead of traditional policing, so that the gap occurring between police and public due to the bad Sialkot incident, could be bridged.
He maintained that “we can definitely win over the crusade against the terrorists and criminals by discharging our policing duties with full sincerity and dedication, in line with the sayings of almighty Allah and Sunnah of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It will provide us the happiness of Allah,” the IGP added.
He said that it was a matter of satisfaction that the police officers, specially the police constables, were playing the role of vanguard with full team spirit in the war against terrorism as a result of which a number of police officers had died. He said “I salute these officers for their act of bravery. The moral of Punjab Police is very high against the war on terrorism and it is determined to eradicate the elements of terrorism and crime.”
Dogar also directed the SPs and SDPOs that they should play their active role in connection with elimination of terrorism, crime dens and provision of relief to the citizens in their respective areas, instead of sitting in their offices.
They should also carry out the patrolling of their areas and provide fool proof security cover to the sensitive points, the IGP maintained.
He said that the public should not be man-handled at police checkposts and only purposeful checking be carried out as well as grievance of the people visiting the police station be quickly redressed. pr
