WASHINGTON :
The White House announced that President Barack Obama has nominated former U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter to be the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan.
Cameron Phelps Munter, who was earlier posted in Baghdad as the political-military adviser to the US ambassador, is set to replace Anne Patterson as the next United States’ ambassador to Pakistan.
Unclear as yet is where the highly regarded outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson may serve next.
Munter, 56, has a rich experience of working in countries in transition, including his assignments in Prague, Belgrade and Warsaw.
He also led the provincial reconstruction team in Mosul (Iraq) in 2006.
In his most recent posting, as a military adviser to the US ambassador in Iraq, he directed strategic planning and US civil-military coordination.
