Holbrooke to visit flood-affected areas this week
ISLAMABAD :
US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Richard Holbrooke will be in Pakistan this week to tour areas affected by the recent monsoon flooding.
While in Pakistan, Ambassador Holbrooke will visit camps of displaced persons where he will survey the most critical needs on the ground to assess how the United States should adapt its support to Pakistan as the country moves from immediate humanitarian relief to recovery and reconstruction, says a press release issued by the US embassy here on Tuesday.
Ambassador Holbrooke will also meet with the Pakistan government officials, representatives of civil society and the media to reiterate Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s commitment that the United States will stand by the people of Pakistan as they rebuild their homes, schools, roads and businesses.
