Babar urges PML-N to abandon LB politics for good


LAHORE, Sept 15 (APP)- Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan on Wednesday urged PML (N) to abandon ‘local bodies mindset of politics’ in order to be successful in national politics.Addressing mediapersons at the Jahangir’s Tomb here,he said PML (N) leadership should exhibit political sagacity in day to day politics,adding that it would help their cause.Urging PML (N) chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to contest elections, the PPP leader said “PPP would not place any candidate if PML-N Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif decides to contest elections”.He said PPP as well as Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani would support him.

He said Nawaz Sharif’s election to the parliament would strengthen democracy and the parliament.
Babar said on the occasion of the International Day of Democracy it was heartening to see that democracy was taking roots in Pakistan,adding that this region was also moving fast towards democracy. He said the referendum in Turkey could be presented as the best example of political maturity in which democratic forces succeeded with a heavy mandate.
Referring to people’s preference for democracy in the country he said, “Democracy is growing fast in Pakistan as well as other parts of the region that is why the people of Pakistan would not tolerate any unconstitutional interference and dictatorship”, he added.
He said that PPP would oppose all the forces which were hatching conspiracies against democracy and stability of the country.
To a question, Babar Awan said that the government would restore Jahangir’s Tomb to its original condition and preservation of all historical places was the top priority of PPP government.
Earlier the Minister visited the residence of President People’s Lawyer Forum (PLF) Lahore, Shahid Mehmood Bhatti to condole the death of his father and offered Fateha.
