NDMA to conduct survey for assessment of flood house hold damages
ISLAMABAD : The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would conduct assessment survey of flood hit areas through machine readable forms to compile a centralised data of house hold damages.
Official sources told APP on Thursday that talk are underway with donors agencies including Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank (WB) to discuss details of the project after which final decision would be taken.
Sources said that NDMA would execute this project with the cooperation of Pakistan Army under which damaged caused to housing units and private property of the flood affected areas would be estimated.
Sources added that results of the survey would be the focal point to assess the actual extent of damage caused to privately-owned houses.
Initial estimates suggest that some 1.8 million houses have been damaged and it is necessary to have accurate figures to pay the compensation amount.
Sources informed that engineers would assess the extent of damage suffered by the houses and with the cooperation of the armed forces, the major expenses incurred would be saved. app
