Altaf for restoration of former nazimsKARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has called for the restoration of former nazims of the local government system for helping the flood-affected people. Speaking in a telephonic address from London, Altaf said the 88,000 elected public representatives throughout the country could have solved the problems of the flood-affected people in a better and efficient way. He said if the former local government nazims were restored, more than 50 percent of the problems being faced by the people would be practically solved. He called for the authorities concerned to take serious view of the worsening situation. Altaf said some of the elected representatives from the flood-affected areas had not visited their constituency at all to provide help to their people. app
