PAC facing resistance in recovery from fake degree-holding officers

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is facing tough resistance against recovery of Rs 2.388 million from a number of officers appointed on fake degrees in the National Programme for Family Planning and Basic Health Care, Quetta.
According to official documents obtained by Daily Times, some seven cases of appointments in the national programme on fake degrees had been unearthed during the course of audit of records for the programme for the financial year 2004-05.
Bashir Ahmad, Naveed Yusuf, Akbar Kasi, Adeel Asif and Mohammad Imran had been appointed as field programme officers in BPS-17 against Rs 25,000 per month on fake degrees in 2003-04.
Meanwhile, Izharul Haq and Mohammad Azeem had been appointed as health officer and MIS Coordinator respectively against Rs 12,000 per month. Bashir Ahmad, Naveed Yusuf and Akbar Kasi had submitted fake degrees of Masters in Sociology from the Balochistan University, while Adeel Asif, Mohammad Imran and Izharul Haq submitted fake degrees of Masters in Sociology from the Khairpur University. Mohammad Azeem had submitted his fake degree of MA Statistics from the Khairpur University as well.
