President appreciates Chinese assistance for flood victims
ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari Friday appreciated the Chinese leadership and its people for their generous support and assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected. Talking to Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian who called on the President at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President said Chinese government’s additional assistance of US $200 million for flood affected people mutual cooperation and strong bonds between the two governments and their people.Matters relating to bilateral relations between the two countries and Chinese assistance for the flood affected were also discussed during the meeting.
The President said the government would welcome technical assistance and invited Chinese companies to participate in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure and assured that the government would facilitate them in all possible manners.
The Chinese government besides initial emergency humanitarian assistance and recent additional assistance of US $ 200 million also provided medical, food and other supplies to the flood affected in Gilgit-Baltistan and other parts of Pakistan.
Ambassador Liu Jian assured continued support of Chinese government for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.
