Pakistan commends Afghanistan for holding Wolesi Jirga elections
ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP): Pakistan on Friday commended the Afghan government, nation and Independent Election Commission on the holding of Wolesi Jirga elections held on September 18. “Pakistan believes that strengthening of democratic traditions will promote stability and accelerate economic development of Afghanistan,” said a Foreign Office statement issued here.The statement said the holding of second parliamentary elections demonstrated the commitment of Afghan leadership, people and concerned authorities to strengthen democratic traditions and institutions in Afghanistan, despite numerous challenges.
