Pakistan snubs Indian objection to resolutions on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday dismissed Indian reaction to the resolutions passed by parliament over the gross violations of human rights in Indian-held Kashmir.

The Foreign Office (FO), reacting to the remarks by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson on the resolutions passed by both Houses of Parliament on the situation in Indian-held Kashmir, said India should “take a fresh look at its unhelpful Kashmir policy”.

“Jammu and Kashmir is an international issue and subject of several UN resolutions,” Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said in his weekly briefing on Thursday.

The spokesman said the resolutions by passed by the Senate and the National Assembly reflected the “concerns of the people of Pakistan on the gross violations of human rights by Indian security forces”.

Basit said the situation in Kashmir was also a matter of concern to the international community and pointed that the UN secretary general had also called for an end to deadly violence in Kashmir. app
