Bill Clinton announces initiative to help flood victims
NEW YORK: Former US president Bill Clinton has announced an initiative to help the flood-affected people in Pakistan.
He made the announcement while addressing a session of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).
The initiative would include provision of clean drinking water, and food and medical facilities to the flood-affected.
The CGI would work out modalities in collaboration with its partner agencies to implement the initiative. International agencies that would work with the CGI include the Kashf Foundation that would work to rehabilitation and reconstruct communities by clean drinking water projects and rebuilding livelihoods.
For this purpose, a specific fund has been created with the amount of $28.98 million. The Concern Worldwide US in collaboration with the CGI would provide food-security and self-reliance, agricultural support for small farmers, transitional shelter, income generation projects, water, sanitation, hygiene services and infrastructure projects. app
