Brig Imtiaz released from Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: Former head of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Brigadier (r) Imtiaz Ahmed was released from the Adiala Jail on Saturday. Earlier, Adiyala Jail Superintendent of Police (SP) Saeedullah Gondal had confirmed the bail of Ahmed. On Thursday, a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC), comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Rauf Ahmad Sheikh, granted interim bail to Ahmed and directed his release on bail bonds of Rs 20 million. In July 2001, the brigadier was awarded eight years of imprisonment by an accountability court in an illegal assets’ reference. app
