Parliament, courts should respect one another, says Hoti
* KP CM says change in govt will be acceptable only through constitutional means
* Sees no major political change

PESHAWAR: The judiciary and parliament should respect one another, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti on Sunday said, adding that parliament and the judiciary should work together and all institutions should ensure supremacy of the constitution.
“The country is going through a critical time in its history,” he said, adding that a change in government would be acceptable if it is brought about through constitutional means. “No major political changes will be taking place in the country,” Hoti told reporters after the inaugural ceremony of a girls’ college in Khan Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan.
He said the Awami National Party (ANP), as in the past, will accept the judiciary’s decisions.
“Democratic forces should accept the judiciary’s decisions. The ANP accepted the judiciary’s decisions in the past and will honour them in the future as well,” he added.
The ANP is a coalition partner of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the federal and Sindh governments and the PPP is a coalition partner of the ANP in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Political analysts were of the view that the statement of the KP chief minister clearly indicated that the ANP would not support the PPP government against the judiciary’s decisions regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance.
