Krishna invites Qureshi for Commonwealth Games, talks
NEW DELHI: Indian foreign minister SM Krishna has invited Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to watch the Commonwealth Games, which begin on Sunday, and said he hoped it could also give them a chance to carry forward their peace dialogue. “Foreign Minister Qureshi is most welcome to witness some of the games at least, and there again give us a chance ... to continue the dialogue,” Krishna told an Indian news channel in comments aired on Wednesday. The two sides are trying to improve ties that plummeted after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Krishna and Qureshi’s held peace talks in July and those ended in acrimony over the attacks, even though the dialogue itself is seen as a tentative step toward improving ties. reuters
