Sindh govt reviews police needs


KARACHI: A high level meeting of Sindh Home Department on Sunday extensively reviewed requirements and procurement of police force under the Rs 5 billion package announced by President Asif Ali Zardari.

It identified equipped vehicles, weapons and updated close circuit camera system among the force's most urgent and essential requirements.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah was attended by Secretary General to the President, Salman Farooqui, Sindh Home Minister, Manzoor Wassan, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, I.G Police - Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Wasim Ahmed, Sindh Finance Secretary, Naveed Kamran Baloch and Special Secretary to Sindh Chief Minister, Ata Mohammad Panhwar.

The Rs 5 billion package for Sindh Police will also include Rs 2.50 billion share of Sindh government.

It is meant to improve law and order situation of Karachi and also to ensure protection of life and property of the citizens.

The meeting also made important decisions related to rules and regulations for the procurement of modern weapons for the police force.
