Civil society holds protest against delay in relief work in Badin
BADIN: Hundreds of deprived and helpless flood victims of different areas of Badin district joined hands with local activists of the civil society, as it arranged a protest rally and held a sit-in outside the District Coordination Officer (DCO) House on Friday against the ignorance and constant delay in relief work in the areas by the authorities concerned. The protesters urged the government to provide immediate aid, including food items, milk, tents, medical facilities, etc to the victims of Badin. They demanded the local and federal government officials to make arrangements for the rescue and shelter of the uncountable people who were stranded in Taluka Tando Bago, Badin and Golarchi (Shaheed Fazil Rahu).
“The flood relief work is not satisfactory and the victims complaints are not being heard or entertained properly, on the other hand they are regularly baton-charged and humiliated by the authorities,” the protestors complained. “The district, provincial and federal governments showed a completely non-serious attitude after the heavy rains and canal breaches in the area, which destroyed thousands of hectares of agriculture land, crops of cotton, homes and livestock,” they added. pr
