Time to shun politics, save Pakistan: Nawaz
* Faces behind Karachi unrest be unmasked
NAWABSHAH: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that the faces behind the destruction of Karachi peace should be unmasked.
Talking to the media men at the Circuit House during the distribution of relief goods among the rain-affected people, he said, “This is not the time for politicking. We will break up those who are talking of dismembering the country.”
“Pakistan is not a toy that it will be broken by those in whose hands it goes to,” he said, adding that it was the time to forget politics and save the country.
Criticism by President Asif Ali Zardari against PML-N is not only surprising but also regrettable, he said, adding that the president should have taken steps for the rain-hit people.
“I have come here at the president’s desire. Now he should spare his precious time for the country. He should spare some time for these poor people and should change their lives,” Nawaz said. He said that one (President Zardari) should not be afraid of going to prison when fulfilling one’s duties.
It was a matter of regret that a favorite person had been appointed as the accountant general despite the fact that a letter had been sent by the Supreme Court (SC) to the president in this regard, he said.
The people had not voted them to power to induct favourites on key posts, he alleged.
He said that the PML-N had set up medical centres in Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah and other areas of Sindh to provide medical facility to rain ravaged people. “I am with the people of Sindh at this difficult time,” he said.
A lot of people had been affected here and the government should have taken major steps for their rehabilitation, he urged. “The way we are serving Punjab we will serve the people of Sindh too,” he added. Responding to a question, he said that Chaudhry Nisar, the chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), had exposed corruption cases, which should not be shelved.
He said that Chaudhry Nisar was not going to resign as the PAC chairman and all such reports in this regard were baseless. Rulers are trying to make PAC ineffective to cover their corruption,
he regretted.
