Emergency relief fund formed for flood affectees
ISLAMABAD: The Senate's special committee on floods has formed an emergency relief fund for the flood affectees and every senator will contribute Rs 25,000 from their salary to this fund, Geo News reported.
The committee met under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery and during the meeting a procurement committee was formed which would be led by Senator Seemi Siddiqui. The procurement committee would be tasked with purchasing items for the flood affectees.
Earlier during the meeting PML-F Senator Sajid Hussain Zaidi accused Chief Minister Sindh's daughter of distributing relief items meant for the flood affectees amongst the rich. Senator Zaidi added that an investigation should be held into how flood funds are used.
Senator Gul Muhammad Lot informed the committee that the price of petrol in flood affected areas was touching Rs200.
