Parliamentary body to submit Karachi report in two monthsStaff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Karachi and Balochistan decided on Monday to submit its report on violence in Karachi in the next two months.
The meeting was presided over by MNA Syed Khursheed Shah. It also finalised the procedures and terms of reference for its functioning.
The committee has been mandated to collect the data on crimes in Karachi and to review the performance of law enforcement agencies and the powers they have in Karachi to control violence. It was decided that committee would be mandated to call the authorities of any relevant department. However, it could not evolve a consensus on whether to monitor the decisions of the Supreme Court on Karachi.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi, Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Zahid Hamid, Abdul Qadir Patel, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Noor Alam Khan, Qamaruzzaman Kaira, Wasim Akthar and Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour.
