Altaf phones Zardari, assures full support to government
KARACHI: A telephonic conversation was held between the leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain and President Asif Ali Zardari. Altaf enquired about the health of president and prayed for his health, a statement said on Thursday. President Zardari thanked Hussain for his good wishes and enquired about his health as well. Both the leaders discussed about the current political situation in the country, peace and stability in Karachi, devastation caused by floods in the Punjab and Sindh provinces, outbreak of dengue fever in Punjab and other issues of mutual interest. They expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives due to floods and outbreak of diseases. Both the leaders agreed on the point that the current situation of the country demanded unity and solidarity in order to meet the challenges facing the country. Hussain assured President Zardari of his full co-operation in order to fight the challenges that the country was faced with. He also informed the president about the relief work undertaken by the MQM for the people affected by the floods. staff report
