PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to attend APC

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) announced that they will be taking part in the All Parties Conference (APC), Geo News reported.

Addressing senior PML-N leaders’ party president Nawaz Sharif who will attend the APC said decisions regarding the country should be made in parliament and not the presidency. The meeting was attended by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Mushaidullah, Ahsan Iqbal and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has convened the APC on September 29 to discuss national security in light of US accusations of Pakistan being involved with the Haqqani network. Political leaders are expected to be briefed by concerned officials about worsening Pak-US ties.

The United States has accused the Pakistan army and the ISI of backing the Haqqani network and conducting a proxy war in Afghanistan. Pakistan has denied these accusations and several government officials have said that such statements only hamper ties between the two countries.
