President, PM discuss current political, security situation
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani chaired a high level meeting to discuss US accusations against Pakistan and the upcoming All Parties Conference (APC), Geo News reported.
During the meeting President Zardari said he was hopeful that the country’s political leadership would be able to form a consensus on issues of national importance.
Defence Minister Chuadhry Ahmad Mukhtar, Foreign Secretary Slaman Bashir and Secretary General to the President Salman Farooqui also attended the meeting.
Bashir briefed the meeting about Pak-US ties, meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Session and the present situation.
Sources add that the agenda of the APC and briefing by security officials was also discussed during the meeting.
Prior to this meeting President Zardari also met with Prime Minister Gilani. According to presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar both leaders discussed the present political and security situation.
