Top military officials to attend APC
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wyne will attend the All Parties Conference (APC) convened by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on September 29, Geo News reported.The APC will discuss strained ties between Pakistan and the United States. According to sources, DG ISI Lt. General Ahmed Shuja Pasha will brief the conference on the security of the country and region along with Pak-US relations.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will also brief the conference about the country’s current foreign policy and diplomatic efforts with the US.
The APC has been convened by the prime minister in an effort to bring all political parties and stakeholders onboard to formulate a consensus policy regarding US accusations against Pakistan.
The US has accused Pakistan of backing the Haqqani network and conducting a proxy war in Afghanistan. These accusations have strongly been denied by Pakistan.
