NICL scandal: Qureshi presents interim report


ISLAMABAD: Additional Director General FIA Zafar Qureshi has presented the interim report in the NICL scandal case to the Supreme Court, Geo News reported.

According to Qureshi’s findings the original report of Moonis Elahi’s foreign accounts has been lost and those accused in the case benefited from collusion with DG FIA and Secretary Interior.

The report also accuses Director FIA Lahore and Additional Director Legal of unfreezing amounts worth Rs 20 million and that DG FIA did not allow cases to be lodged against them.

Further the Lahore High Court has ordered that Habibullah Wariach and his family to be placed on the exit control list (ECL) but Wariach was sent to a foreign country from Karachi on 6 September 2011.

On the issue of Elahi’s original foreign accounts report being lost, no action was taken against those responsible. The report also states that funds from Dubai were transferred in to account of Elahi’s wife of which the Financial Monitoring Unit was informed.
