Pak, India FMs to meet on September 8
ISLAMABAD: Indian Minister for External Affairs SM Krishna will visit Pakistan from September 7 to 9 to hold a review meeting with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar. According to the Foreign Office, the Indian foreign minister is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Khar. The bilateral talks will take place on September 8, the Foreign Office said. A meeting between the foreign secretaries of the two countries, on September 7, would precede the talks. The two ministers will also co-chair the plenary session of the India-Pakistan Joint Commission to be held in Islamabad on September 8. Pakistan and India will hold several rounds of talks on a range of issues, including Siachen, bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The two ministers will review secretary-level talks on various issues and decide an agenda for the next round, officials said. The composite dialogue between the two countries resumed last year after being suspended following the Mumbai attacks. The two nuclear powers made significant progress in bilateral ties in the previous year, however, much progress is still needed to resolve all outstanding issues. staff report
