FM Hina Rabbani Khar in Germany on official visit

BERLIN: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has arrived in Germany on her two-day official visit where she is due to hold intensive talks with her German counterpart Guido Westerwelle on bilateral relations, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the foreign minister will hold intensive talks with her German counterpart Guido Westerwelle on bilateral relations and ways and means to further strengthen the ties.

The two foreign ministers will also sign “Roadmap for Pakistan-Germany Strategic Dialogue”‚ providing for a multi-sectorial cooperation framework between the two countries.

They would exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

In Berlin‚ Khar will deliver a keynote address at the German Council on Foreign Relations on “Changing Regional and Global Environment: Pakistan’s Perspective”.

The Foreign Minister will also meet the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Bundestag‚ Ruprecht Polenz‚ German Defence Minister‚ Dr Thomas de Maiziere‚ and will have an interactive session with the German representatives of business community‚ intelligentsia and NGOs. She will also meet members of the Pakistan community at the Pakistan Embassy.

Germany is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in Europe and also a major source of investment in Pakistan. Over 70,000 strong Pakistan community and more than 2,200 students in German universities serve as an important organic link between the two countries. The Foreign Ministers visit will inject further momentum into bilateral relations.
