Monsoon holds up Sindh local govt ordinance
KARACHI: The monsoon rains have wet-blanketed the promulgation of Sindh local government ordinance, Geo News reported.
According to reports, Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah was supposed to land in Karachi today to chair a high-level meeting to be attended by the leaders of ruling coalition, but inclement weather did not let his plane take off from Sukkur.
Owing to this holdup, the meeting, which was convened to address the legislative issues of local government ordinance, could not be held.
Meanwhile, the legal experts from both the coalition partners, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Pakistan Peoples Party, butted heads in the CM House here waiting for the CM.
Later, talking to Geo News, Governor Sindh, Dr Isharat-ul-Ibad, said that local government ordinance is an important legislative issue, which was being evaluated carefully.
He was talking to newsmen after inaugurating a new block in Sobhraj Hospital here.
He said that MQM wanted to take all the allies on board and was in talks with them regarding the local government ordinance.
