PML-Q, PML-F, Likeminded, NPP to sit on opposition benches in Sindh Assembly
ISLAMABAD: The PML-Q, PML-F, Likeminded and National Peoples Party (NPP) have decided to join the opposition in the Sindh Assembly in protest to the new local government ordinance.
The decision comes after the parties were not consulted over the Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance 2012 (SPLGO).
During a meeting, the parties also announced that they would support the strike call given by nationalist parties against the SPLGO. They have called for the new local government ordinance to immediately be withdrawn.
Addressing a press conference, Imtiaz Sheikh and Jam Madad Ali declared the SPLGO a conspiracy to divide Sindh. According to them the ordinance had granted extra-ordinary powers to the mayor in Karachi and they asked how the chief officer could be in charge of the district administration.
