Pak nation has potential to brave challenges: PM
TIANJIN: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday said Pakistani nation had the potential to brave challenge and expressed hope that the people would not lose hope in difficult times.
The premier ruled out any delay in general elections and said they would be held on time. “There should be no ambiguity about the elections which will be held in a fair and transparent manner,” the prime minister said in an informal interaction with reporters.
The premier said the Election Commission of Pakistan and media were independent in performance of their duties. He said transparent elections and an effective parliament could strengthen democracy in the country.
“Continuity in holding of general elections will improve the quality of public representation at parliament and will result in better legislation,” he said. The premier said this was for the first time that a successful coalition government was going to complete its five-year tenure. He said all national issues could be resolved through consensus of political parties in the country.
He said Pakistani nation had the potential to brave challenges and expressed hope that the people would not lose hope in difficult times.
He said there was a need to “gel” the entire society and bring it at an equation for a united progression. “With faith and a solid goal ahead, we can learn from the example of China’s progress,” he said. app
