Baldia Town factory mishap a national tragedy: MQM chief
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said Wednesday Baldia Town factory mishap is a tragedy of the entire nation, not of Karachi alone. Addressing the party workers at the MQM’s relief camp on telephone, the MQM chief demanded the government to provide the state of the art machinery to the workers currently engaged in rescue and relief efforts in the factory. He also demanded a committee comprising experts be formed to take stock of the arrangements at all factories The MQM chief offered condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims who were burned down at the garment factory that employed over 450 workers. Meanwhile Parliamentary leader of the MQM in the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar offered condolences to the bereaved family members and vowed action against the culprit whose negligence caused the huge fire. Talking to media while visiting the fire site, he said justice will be done to the affected families and action will be taken against those responsible for massive conflagration that claimed at least 166 lives. Most bodies are torched beyond recognition. online
