Interpol refuses to arrest Musharraf
ISLAMABAD: Interpol has refused to arrest former president Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto murder case, describing Pakistan’s evidences as insufficient, a private TV channel reported on Friday. Sources said Interpol returned a letter asking for his arrest to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with objections on grounds of lack of evidences against the former president. The FIA had issued a red warrant to Interpol Headquarters for the arrest of Musharraf following orders by Rawalpindi’s anti-terrorism court (ATC). The relevant documents were dispatched to Interpol authorities in Geneva, however, the international organisation retuned the dossier with objections. Pakistan government, through FIA, had requested Interpol to bring Musharraf back to the country in order to carry out proceedings against him in the murder probe. inp
