AWT announces Rs20m relief package for Karachi fire victims
KARACHI: Alamgir Welfare Trust (AWT) has, in an initial response, started providing help to the victim families of Baldia Town factory inferno with Rs20 million worth of food supplies and other essentials.
Shakeel Dehalvi, the spokesman for AWT said that registration of the affected families is underway at an emergency camp set up at the Trust's central office. The families are getting themselves registered at the camp from 9am to 6pm daily.
The spokesman said that the emergency camp can be reached at phone numbers: 111-153-153, 0333-2346116 and 0333-2111645. The registeration counter will also remain open on Sundays, he added.
He further informed that so far a number of the unfortunate families who either lost their loved ones in the deadly fire or those of the injured have been issued Ration cards. The cards are valid for six months during which these families will be provided with Atta, pulses, rice, tea, milk and other food items.
Food supplies for the current month have already been provided to the affected families.
