Zardari talks politics with Pir Pagara

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday telephoned Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Pir Pagara to exchange views on the political situation, Sindh Local Government Act, 2012 and PML-F’s decision to leave the provincial government.

Sources said the president expressed his desire for PML-F’s return to the government and invited Pir Pagara for a meeting. Pir Pagara is reported to have informed the president that he would discuss the matter with his party members before taking the final decision.

Meanwhile, Zardari on Sunday also convened a meeting of the leadership of allied parties in the government to discuss important matters. The meeting will be held today (Monday), during which the political situation will be discussed in detail. Sources said the meeting has been called in the backdrop of the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to award party tickets to some leaders of his party in various constituencies. Other issues likely to be discussed are the situation arising out of the promulgation of local government ordinance, reservations of some allies in Sindh over it and preparations for the forthcoming general elections. inp
