Balochistan case : court rejects joint testimony
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court bench hearing the Balochistan law and order case has dismissed the joint testimony of the Defense, Interior and Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Geo News reported.
The joint testimony was submitted to the court by the Attorney General Ifran Qadir. It was maintained in the testimony that none of the 78 missing persons were in custody. The testimony also refuted earlier statements that a further 80 people have been taken into custody.
The Supreme Court rejected the joint testimony and remarked that each case will be heard on an individual basis, and adjourned the hearing to be resumed on Thursday.
Earlier Harsh words were exchanged between Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and Attorney General Irfan Qadir.
The Attorney General had questioned that why the Balochistan law and order case was being prolonged. Responding to this, the Chief Justice said that the situation in Balochistan was going from bad to worse.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice inquired as to why the Attorney General came to court as the court had summoned the Defence Secretary today, to which Irfan Qadir responded that he did not receive the court’s instructions in time.
