Lack of leadership led to chaotic protests: SCBA chief
BAHAWALPUR: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president, Yaseen Azad, Saturday said that a total absence of leadership plunged the country into chaos during the protests against the blasphemous film, Geo News reported.
Addressing a SCBA Executive Committee meeting in Bahawalpur, he said that had the religious and political leaders played their due role the angry protestors would not have crossed the line.
“Friday’s violent protests have marred Pakistan’s image around the world further as the protestors went out of control for having no one out there to remind them about the true purpose of Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH)”, said he.
Going forward he said that International Court of Justice (ICJ) should be moved against such sacrilegious acts.
Condemning the profane film and caricatures, he termed it a conspiracy against the peaceful religion of Islam.
"Such unethical and shameful moves are an abuse of freedom of speech," he added.
