Zardari should either resign or distance himself from PPP: NawazISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said President Asif Ali Zardari should either resign or distance himself from the Pakistan People’s Party.
In an interview with a private television channel, the PML-N chief said, “Presidency has become the centre of politics for the last four-and-a-half years and Zardari should distance himself from party politics and remain impartial till elections.” He added that political decisions were being made in the Presidency and if such activities continued they would affect the electoral process and cast doubts on the fairness of the elections. Nawaz said that the PPP government would not be allowed to delay the general election on the pretext of deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan. During the interview, Nawaz said that nobody could eradicate corruption within 30 days, a reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s promise to do so. Nawaz also shared his strategy to stabilise the country’s economy and said that tax rate might be lowered by 10 to 15 percent. He also vowed to arrest the killers of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. inp
