Babar Ghori sends Haleem, Nihari for Nawaz Sharif

KARACHI: Although the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) seems unhappy over cancellation of invitation by the federal cabinet, the party’s senior leader and former federal minister Babar Khan Ghori sent a traditional lunch consisting of Haleem and Nihari for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.

Ghori, who has been inviting senior politicians to his dining table in a bid to forge better relationship with other political parties, did not miss the opportunity this time around despite the MQM’s being at odds with the Nawaz Sharif-led party in the recent past.

The history of the bitterness dates back to MQM’s support to former military dictator Gen (redt) Pervez Musharraf.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar who had often played a role of a bridge between both the parties whenever the N-league needed MQM’s support, thanked Ghori for his gesture.

Ghori said that he would have himself brought the lunch for the prime minister but his illness didn’t allow him to do so.
